A metaphor’s a way to say the way a thing is seeming
Instead of saying “smiling”, you can say that one is “beaming”
And so make a comparison: that person is the sun
We know they’re not, but we forgot how much they act like one

A metaphor can help us to explain just what we’re feeling
It helps us share, enhances, without being too revealing
And in so doing we can see the truth below the bottom
We get to understand ourselves, thank metaphors we’ve got ‘em

A simile’s a comparison that uses “as” or “like”
A metaphor is similar, but goes straight for the mic
It loudly and directly says a thing is something else
A helpful lie it hopes will clarify the thing itself
